Cubicoff Ingeniería Abierta, in a consortium composed of Centro Avanzado de Tecnologías Aeroespaciales (CATEC), Grupo Sevilla Control (GSC), Solar MEMS Technologies and Andalucía Aerospace Cluster Empresarial, has been awarded the IMPULSO PHASE III project. The IMPULSO project (“Investigation of 3D printing for its industrial validation and connectivity in the digital environment”) proposes a novel development in the value chain of metal components manufactured by 3D printing, with the ultimate goal of establishing an efficient and simple methodology that allows the implementation of additive technology in the manufacturing production chain of two relevant sectors at the national level, aerospace and medical.
In this third phase of the project, known as IMPULSO PHASE III, the development and transfer of technology and specific knowledge to implement additive technology in the space sector will be carried out. It will seek to establish synergies with research carried out in previous phases in other fields and strengthen the capabilities of national companies with a disruptive approach in a growing space sector. The objective is to consolidate additive manufacturing in this sector, always maintaining a firm commitment to certification and compliance with regulations, given that the space sector demands high standards.
Cubicoff was also awarded and participated in the previous calls for the aerospace and medical sectors for IMPULSO PHASE I and II. IMPULSO PHASE I investigated the development of metal components manufactured by 3D printing for the aerospace sector. In contrast, PHASE II investigated the applicability and advantages of using metal additive manufacturing (SLM technology) in the medical sector through custom fabricating grade 5 titanium (Ti6Al4v) lumbar implants.
IMPULSO PHASE III, like the previous projects, is supported in the form of a grant from the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism within the program for Innovative Business Groups (AEI) and is part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan through the Next Generation EU funds of the European Union.
