Cubicoff participates in developing a mining project in Morocco for Duro Felguera

Cubicoff Ingeniería Abierta is developing an engineering project for the multinational company Duro Felguera in the Zgounder silver mine in Morocco. This engineering consists of different phases. The first phase, successfully completed, consisted of basic and detailed engineering for pre-aeration and leach tanks.

In particular, Cubicoff´s team has carried out the conceptual engineering review work and the development of the basic and detailed engineering of the mechanical/structural specialty of the following elements:

  • Tanks
  • Distributor to pre-aeration tank
  • Upper platform on the tanks
  • Lower platforms for operation/maintenance of spargers
  • Access

Cubicoff has been in charge of designing and calculating part of the mine structures, including six tanks 15 meters high and 13.5 meters in diameter, which are used to separate and extract precious metals, in this case, silver.

Along with the tanks, the upper platform of 50 meters long by 26 meters wide has been designed, which is used to hold the agitators, which are located inside them and cause the movement of the fluid that is contained inside.

The company has also designed the distributors used to convey between the different tanks, process and separate the water that contains the dissolved metals.

After this first phase, Duro Felguera awarded Cubicoff a second phase for designing a series of equipment and components located at the entrance and exit of the ball mill.

David Pérez Sigüenza, CEO of Cubicoff, stated after signing this second phase, “We are delighted to have successfully completed the first phase of the Zgounder silver mine project and that Duro Felguera has once again trusted our team to continue supporting the basic and detailed engineering of their project.”
